My friend wrote on his wall, "Dear mother nature, I thought we've established that winter is over?"

And somebody replied, " Dear Haskell, I'm sorry that my son (that El Nino) and my daughter (La Nina), is ruining the weather system, they haven't got home. But please do tell them to come home soon. Mother awaits

Stupid is as stupid does

Ok so they're going to practically THROW AWAY BLOOD. For what, a non violent public demonstration for the sake of what, democracy? I'm no politician so to me this is just a PLAIN STUPID THING TO DO. Not to mention infuriating. Ok sure it's symbolic (being symbolic is the LEAST thing such a WASTEFUL ACT should achieve). And the alternative of that, something much less symbolic like say... DONATING YOUR BLOOD TO THE BLOOD BANK... THAT well you can hardly mobilize such a large number of people (ONE HUNDRED THOUSANDS mind you) for THAT, can you?

Not by any stretch of the imagination. The blood bank is always so busy recruiting people, don't they?

Imagine what you could do with such a large amount of blood. The number of people it can help save (1000L is good for 200 people and that's if this 200 people get the full 5L of total blood!). The number of haematopoietic stem cells it can provide. This is just so unbelievably and sinfully wasteful.

Not to mention a PUBLIC HAZARD. Ok when the reporter asked if 'you're worried that it may spread diseases', this fella actually said no because the syringe is disposable. Ok so the blood withdrawing procedure is aseptic and what, that 1000L of blood pooling there on the floor is safe??? Whatever happened to Hepatitis B?!

I was supposed to argue in a debate before about how ideology is more powerful than force. It probably is. Because you can brainwash all the stupid people in the world.
